Hello, everyone! The last few weeks have been very busy so I am only just getting around to writing my next blog post. Today I am going to be discussing my new hair tool discovery that has really helped me to maintain my hair better and has also given me the ability to easily style my hair. I really hope what I write helps anyone who may have the same issues as me when it comes to completing certain tasks. I like to talk about what I know and give advice on things that will make life a little easier when it comes to things that my health makes difficult.
I hope you all enjoy and if you know someone who would benefit from this post, please share it with them :)
The Tool
The hair tool I discovered recently that has really made doing my hair accessible, is the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumiser: for thick/long hair. The reason why it has helped me so much is very similar to why the mixer really benefited my baking; being a brush combined with a dryer means I only have to hold one tool. It saves my weak little arms from aching and being in pain! It is so much easier to hold one tool, instead of trying to hold a hair brush and a hair dryer at the same time. Having weak muscles, I could never do this because it caused me too much grief; I either let my hair air dry or had my mum assist me in drying my hair. Whereas, with this tool, I find it much easier to dry and style my hair as I am only holding one thing which does the same job.

How I discovered it
The reason I discovered this tool was actually because of my mum! She was chatting to one of her cousins about my hair (kind of a strange topic, but I am not complaining), and she suggested the Revlon Hair Dryer Brush. She has similar hair to me, had recently purchased it herself and had nothing bad to say about it. On top of that, she kindly gave it to my mum for me to try out! I don't know about you but it is very hard to buy something when you haven't tried it because you do not want it to be rubbish. This is especially the case when it comes to hair tools, as someone else may say its great but you never know how good it is going to be for you. That is one of the main reasons why I never done anything about my struggle because I did not know where to look or what to buy. I was looking at the Loreal SteamPod because I had experienced it at my hairdressers and liked the end result it gave my hair. However, after asking around and reading reviews, it looked kind of hard to use, a lot of people said the compartment breaks or does not work and it just did not seem like the right fit. This situation was perfect and such a kind gesture from my mum's cousin.
I got to trying it right away when I next washed my hair. At first it took a while to get the hang of and it took a few tries to get my hand position comfortable, but I really liked it. That made up my mind, I told mum to return it back to its owner and I went about hunting for the best deal. I looked on a few places but ultimately ended up going with Amazon. The reason for this is because I wanted to ensure I purchased the same one I had tried so my mums cousin sent through the link to where she brought hers. I thought it would be the safest bet so I ordered it and it was on its way!

How I Use it
I have used it quite a few times since it arrived. I have curly hair so I do not use it too often as I usually wear it curly and do not like to put too much heat on it, but I would say I use it once or twice a month when I want a different look. It is really good and makes drying my hair easier and somewhat quicker. It does get quite hot so I do not use the highest heat setting until I am near the end. It also has a cold setting that I blast at the end of each section. I have really got it down to a tee now with my routine and to really make the most of it, I:
Will leave my hair in my mirco-fibre hair turban for around twenty minutes.
Then I will take it out and put some sort of oil through it. I like to use Moroccan oil or a frizz free one.
I will brush it out and then section it. I usually do the bottom layer with the rest clipped up, then take out another layer from the clip and then the final top layer. This gives me the perfect sized sections and three is a good amount for me.
I will spray each section as I go with heat protectant and then dry it on the lower heat setting. I take the brush on top of the hair and curl upwards. I have seen people do it from underneath but I struggle to get the grip on the brush properly if I do that.
I will repeat this until I get to the top layer. I will also tie the dry hair back loosely with a satin scrunchie so it does not mix with the wet hair.
Once the top layer is dry (this takes the longest as it is my curliest part), I will brush it all back, except the front pieces, and tie it securely.
I will then dry the top pieces, curling the hair upwards with the dryer. I will also cold blast it when I am done. After looking at some tips online, drying the bangs downwards might produce better results.
Lastly, I will roller by bangs. This does not always work and when I am writing this, I only just figured out how to get them out without my hair getting stuck... lol. I usually use one roller but for the first time I used two and it turned out okay. I still need to figure that part out! I do also clip down my rollers to ensure they are secure.
Once my hair is tied back and rollered, I will then sleep with a silk bonnet to protect my hair and in the morning my hair has a nice curl to it.
That is my routine with the tool and I have to say it produces great results.

Was it worth the purchase?
100%. It is only 50 euro and it works wonders. It is such a good tool for someone like me who has difficulty holding both a brush and a hair dryer, it totally removes that problem as it is a two in one. It rarely hurts my arms compared to my old routine of drying my hair and if it does, I will take a couple of minutes break and continue. I find it only hurts when I have done something else that day. One thing my mum's cousin said that I always try and implement, is ensuring I pull the hair tightly when drying as otherwise it can create some frizz. However, I have not noticed a huge amount of frizz after all of my times using it and if there is, I would much rather deal with that then not be able to dry it by my myself at all! :) The easy fix is just to straighten the back where the small bit of frizz is.
It also is advised to use it when your hair is not fully wet but I have to admit I used to do this but I never used the highest heat setting. I only just started leaving my hair for a bit before drying and I do not know if I see a huge difference. I think it is less damaging for your hair if it is not fully wet. Anyway, all in all, a great purchase and I would recommend to anyone like me who has difficulty drying their hair, or anyone in general who is looking for a tool that gives your hair a great look in not a lot of time.
Ta da! We have reached the end of my hair hacks post. I have to say I really enjoyed sharing this one as it is something that has genuinely helped me in life. It may seem like a small thing but having that independence when you have a disability, is very uplifting. I hope you guys enjoyed and come back for my next post where I definitely will be sharing my recent bakes and if the mixer continues to help me. I think I said this post would be that but I changed my mind ehehe, I wanted to leave you all in more suspense...
See ya. Stay safe and well, Lucy xoxoxoxo
