Hey, guys! I know you are eagerly awaiting part 2 of my move to another country! This last week has been both enjoyable and stressful, with so many things still to organise. I am aiming for this post to be a little shorter than the last and it will include some of my photography that I have captured over the last two weeks. The rest will be in my next photography post:)
It has been such a huge change in the life, and I am still getting used to everything being so different. The main one being the accents lol, it may take me a while to fully understand some people when they chat to me. Totally my issue of course, as I am just used to plain old English. The people here are so friendly however, so I think I will grasp this in no time!
Now, onto the main story. I hope you all enjoy and can get some laughs from my troublesome times :)
Continuation from the Arrival at the House
After such an awful journey, it was like the world was testing us. The problem we now had was that our bedding and quilts that father had so kindly brought over, were somehow missing?? He had placed them in one of the smaller bedrooms, and when we went to retrieve them, the room was locked.... yes locked. Being so overtired, this was the last thing we needed and because it was so late, we had a feeling the lady that owned the house may not answer her phone.
While the parents sorted out that mess, my sister and I unloaded what we could out of the car and it was down to me to pick a bedroom. Having been the second born, and the obvious favourite (it is to be assumed, isn't it) I was allowed to pick the bedroom of my choice due to having such a tiny box room back in England. It was a hard choice and because it was so late, I really could not focus... to the annoyance of the sis as she just wanted to have her room and settle in.
My only problem was I wanted to be away from noise as that is what I struggled with at home, and being such a big house, I did not think that would be a problem. The second problem was that I needed quite a lot of storage due to having so many clothes! I did really want to occupy a room upstairs, but I discovered there was no wardrobes in any of the bedrooms and I did not want to have my stuff cluttering the room. So... I decided to choose one of the two downstairs (minus the king room as the parents had already swiped that. Fair? not really) and my final choice was the double bedroom which luckily had drawers and a wardrobe, yay! I was a little sad as I was quite close to the main rooms, but it is such a nice room that I did not mind comprising. Of course, there is still the option of moving to a choice of two other bedrooms if need be, I will just need to sort out the wardrobe issue and then all will be dandy.
Note: I have one wardrobe and also now occupy another in one of the other bedrooms and that still was not enough *cry laughing face* so I brought a closed up rail one from Amazon to fit my final bits in. Therefore, I can resolve the wardrobe issue upstairs if need be by bringing that up for my main clothes and then keeping the rest downstairs. I just want the best sleep I can, plus its carpet so it just feels cosier. However, I am happy currently where I am so it is not a huge issue. :)
This is my bedroom! I am just a huge fan of the amount of space I have, and it is generally such a nice room.
Finally the lady told us the key was above the door (foolish of us not to look there), so then at 3am, after making the beds, sleep came. My first sleep in my double bed was lush, the space I had was just amazing; I recommend to you all if you have the opportunity to have such a luxury (only kidding, it does not matter too much).
The First Few days in our New Home
It was so strange waking up in a new place, it is like that feeling you get when you are away on holiday and the first morning you wake up, the confusion of where you are sets in, before you realise, ah I am not in my own bed. Except this is a more permanent feeling lol. The view is so stunning from where our house is positioned, there are some houses around of course, but we are also surrounded by fields and cows! Compared to back home where houses was all you could see. Obviously, I still liked living there and I knew no different, whereas now I have the comparison, I realise just how much I prefer it here. I am just a nature lover and excel where I can be and surround myself with it.

When it is sunny, it beams through the windows and I love it. We have three cows as our neighbour who come by the window everyday. Yes, I know that is weird to say... We literally have a beach at the end of our road too, bliss!! I also feel so much safer here in terms of Covid and as it is such a small place, there is not as much going on; something I like.
The only disadvantage I have picked out so far is the weather, some days the rain can just come out of nowhere! You have to be prepared and I have already been out and been caught with no hood or umbrella. Plus. usually it is so windy that an umbrella is not really suitable. The first day we were here, we went to Aldi and the rain poured out of nowhere and I quickly shoved my jacket off and over my head and walked the whole way back with it over my eyes so I could barely see lol. That is really the only adjustment, as well always bringing ear muffs with me as I suffer with sensitive ears and the wind can be strong some days.
The final hurdle was the second day we were settling in, we had planned to head to the nearest place to get some bits we needed for the house and just have nosy really. I had been there briefly with mum when we came to visit the family previously, but I was still looking forward to browsing the shops and getting the stuff I needed for my bedroom. The place is an hour away which back in UK I would of disliked because that is so far to just go shopping, however here the roads are so empty and scenic that I barely notice; it just goes by so quick.
This is a reel from my Instagram, showing just some of the views on our journey around the area we are staying. I did try to make it quite arty but not sure if I was successful. If you want to see any more videos/pictures from Ireland, check my Insta out: Takeyour.pic
I thought I would break up the the story with a reel:) I love this particular one, it is one of my favourites I have captured.
That though was when the reality of the journey, the early starts and the long drive, kicked in for me. I did expect this to happen, considering at home they happened whenever I did something out of the ordinary, or something extraneous. I woke up that morning with the worst migraine I think I have had since they started last year. I am not sure what has caused them, I am making a diary for my doctor but I do think it could be related to lockdown last year and the stress of everything. It certainly was what caused this one and I was sad to tell the fam that I could not come as I could not really move out of bed :( They still went ahead without me and I decided I would just go at a later date (also telling them not to buy too much stuff without me, as I love buying home bits and I am obsessed with interior design hehe).
Alas, I spent all day in bed in a dark room, with a cold compress, as that is generally what helps me. I do try and take paracetamol but that does not make any difference, and unfortunately because of my transplant, I am not allowed to take Iprobrophen or anything. It was boring as I did not want to use my phone or anything as that can trigger more pain, so all I did was sit there until it began to ease around 3. I was then able to move around and get lunch etc. Also then watching an episode of my TV. I did accidentally spill my water, which mum was overjoyed about... whoops. I think the other best thing to do is try and sleep! Laying down was painful but I rested my hand on my head, it was ok and I managed to sleep for around an hour!
Fun! The consequences on my body from such a long three days. I would not change it for the world though, as I love where we are and it was worth it. I definitely did not think that when I had the migraine however, due to the fact I had a mini breakdown like I usually do hehe.
Now that day was over, cue the rest of our first week where I will chat about a few other things and then comes a sneak peek of the photography I have captured; from when we explored areas around our rental, went to various view points, beaches and did a few small walks. I will now include a couple of the pictures for you all to see, but the rest you will have to wait for!
Additions of the Week
I really needed a chair of some sort for my bedroom, because I struggle to sit on my bed as it causes me back pain. I never really invested in one back home so I thought moving to a new house, was the perfect reason to finally take the plunge. Is that a good enough reason? Who knows. I purchased one in my local town, after visiting a few shops in a few different areas. I then ended up ultimately coming back to the first one I saw. It has such a cute pattern and is so comfortable! I will include a little piccy for you.

I talked earlier in the post about how I chose the downstairs bedroom because of the storage available. However, after sleeping on the bed for a few nights, I discovered the mattress was not good for my back and it did cause me to have some back aches. It was a worry of mine as I did have a orthoepic one at home (that is now in storage!) due to the same issue, so it was bound to happen. To resolve the issue, I switched mattresses with the bedroom upstairs that I actually wanted as my room; the mattress was a lot newer and I have got on fine with it for over two weeks now, changing it has been so good for my back! So all is well. It was a challenge sliding it down the stairs tho, and vice versa, taking the other one up. I say a challenge, not for me, for the parents! I just watched and trailed behind....
Story Time!!

This was one of our first walks and where we witnessed the weather going from complete sunshine to a downpour! There was so much rain that we had to run back down the cliff because of the fact our clothes were not equipped for it! On route, I stepped in a bog, something my parents did not even warn me about when they both saw it? Rude much. My whole foot went under and luckily I managed to save my jeans, as I was wearing my fav Zara ones. It actually was a blessing in disguise, seeing that all of the water went into my left boot, it confirmed to be that my boot had a hole in, meaning it was no longer waterproof. I am glad it happened then though and not on another longer walk! Another thing to add to my list of things to buy.

A cheeky beach picture. A little teaser for next weeks post.
Putting aside the obvious stress that occurs from moving house, our first two weeks here have been lovely and it was definitely a change we all needed. I look forward to the coming months, and I manifest positivity and that everything works out for my family and me :) That is all you can wish for I suppose.
That just about wraps it up! The rollercoaster that was my family's move across to another country. Woah, that was a lot to write! I really loved sharing my story with you all and I hoped you enjoyed. I do love writing more in depth posts but it does take me longer as I do get tired easily when concentrating. The joys of chronic illness. However, that does not mean I will stop so look out for another chatter post soon; I like that name or does it sound a bit cringe? lol. Stay tuned for my next post where I will include all of my photography from my time here so far!
There is obviously still many things to do before we are fully settled here. We have viewed a few houses, sorted a couple of paperwork bits out (with a lot to go *stress face*) and dad is hopefully heading back to the UK to haul another load of our stuff over in a few months. I do not envy him doing that hike all over again, for the fourth time! Such a gem my dad and I am looking forward to getting more of my stuff, it makes Ireland feel more like home, ya know?
See ya next time! Stay safe and well, Lucy xoxoxo
I thought this was fitting!
