My Favourite Fashion Pieces Right Now: Part 1

Hello, my peeps! Today, I am bringing back a fashion post. I have missed doing these so much but I have not really had a reason to do one. This is because me and my family are moving so I am saving my money for that venture. I have been avoiding buying anything that is not needed, and sadly, clothes comes under that bracket. Usually, I would buy into the trends and get new clothes every couple of months which is where I would get the inspo to do my classic fashion posts.

However, after some brainstorming, I decided on showing you all my favourite pieces right now. It has actually been somewhat of an advantage, not filling my wardrobe up with new clothes! Mainly for space because of how small my wardrobe is, I can barely see what I have. The aspect of being stuck with the same clothes has given my the opportunity to discover old favourites, and actually put new outfits together that I never normally would, or did not think of doing because I am always wearing the newer pieces!

That is how this post came about! This being part 1, it will include my fav clothes and part 2, will be accessories. Not being able to buy as many clothes, has showed me that I sometimes may need to take a step back and realise how many clothes I own and when to buy new ones, and when not too... Secondly, it has encouraged me to think more about sustainability, and in general being more minimalistic when it comes to my clothing. I have been trying to shop in vintage/charity shops more, and keeping that in mind, I have also gotten rid of a lot due to moving, as I do not want to lug over things that I do not wear. This led me to giving some to charity , but also setting up a Vinted to sell my clothes and odd bits and bobs. So please check it out:

I am so excited to move so I can get bigger storage. This means I can fuel my passion more and up my fashion game! Now, enough of the chit chat, lets get to the star of the show; I hope you all enjoy :)

Clothes

I will link items where I can, but as most of these pieces are oldies, I will link similar ones instead that match the style, but may not match the colour etc. You will find the links on the images, hovering over will show you and if you click, it will take you straight there.

Tops

I have really been veering towards stripes at the moment , and I have also been loving circular necklines and off the shoulder looks. I have literally owned these tops for years and during these last few weeks, I have reached for them so much and I just love how they look on me, and how I can style easily with so many other items. The first top is from Hollister and the second, H and M.

Tie up Top: how I style it

I usually fold up the bottom and tie the strings up to create a more classy vibe and it also makes the neckline stand out more. Pairing it with a necklace compliments the look mainly because of the gap, and just adding a simple one, fills it nicely. I mainly wear dainty necklaces at the moment which you will see in part 2. I go by the known fashion rule, I say that term loosely, that when wearing a tighter top, you pair it with looser bottoms, and visa versa of course. The go to trouser for me has been flared trousers with no pattern, as I do not wanted them to clash. I own a black pair which goes perfectly.

Price: Unknown.

Off the Shoulder Top: how I style it

This one is quite similar to the other, except I have to factor in the style of the top and what clothes will look the best when styling the look. This one compared to the other, is more of a looser top, so I usually go for more of a tight bottom. Of course I do not always follow this rule but it is something I consider, depending on where I am going. Usually, I would wear shorts as they match well, ones that are tighter on the waist, but looser on the bottom. This way I am matching the top, with it having a elasticated bottom and the stretchy ruffled sleeves on the shoulders. Another clothing piece I love with this top, is a denim skirt; I have a white one from Topshop that compliments the white stripes in the top so well.

Price: £5 bargain in the sale.

The tie up one is also so easy to wear around the house, as because of my previous back troubles, I do have to be careful with what I wear . This is mainly because I get a look of back ache and for some reason, if a top has a weird label, or a strange material, it can set off my pain. So over the years, I have struggled with this problem but after wearing this top again after so long, I can add it my comfy list for just chilling in, something I cannot due with the other for example because of how the top sits, I find it extremely uncomfortable. That top then goes onto the list of tops for going out in! That may sound weird but these are things I have to consider when styling a look: how long I am going to be out for, or if I am just chilling, which clothing pieces will be suitable.

Trousers

Funky jeans and shorts have been another go to fashion choice. I have seen so many beautiful jeans with various patterns that I want to buy sooo much but I have resisted. Instead I have started to wear these old gems again which I have grown to love for the second time. I do find myself loving certain pieces for a while, then I get bored and find the next piece to wear everyday! I also do love a good patterned short. These ones in particular have been so handy as they have an elasticated waist! Both so easy and comfy, which is a must for me like I have said before.

Flower Jeans: how I style them

These are from Hollister but I do not really shop there anymore, but back in the day they were a staple shop, and I still have a few loved pieces from there. I have seen that skinny jeans aren't in fashion anymore, flared jeans now being the hype. However, I have not scrapped mine all together because I love them. If you love something, never get rid of it because you think its not in trend. Have your own trends, and where what you love most; that is what I do. The little addition of the flowers is what makes me love these so much, and I incorporate them when thinking of what to pair them with. I am a fan of flower blouses and tops, which is why a colourful pattered blouse is what I would wear with them.

It matches the flower vibe and I just love them together. If I wanted a more plainer look, I would most likely wear a neutral tank top with a light cardigan. It is getting slightly colder now, so I feel like I am now entering that stage again; the need for a small jacket because the air is getting chiller. They are also more on the low waist side, which I used to dislike but now embrace, and am actually starting to come around to. A black chunky belt for me would also be a good choice because it gives you the option to tuck in the blouse.

Price: roughly between 25-35 pounds.

The link I have included in the image, is something I stumbled across which I thought was cool. I thought it was a much more sustainable way of sourcing embroidered jeans, by supporting a small business.

Striped Shorts: how I style them

These are from Pull&Bear and I still shop there today. I unfortunately do not have one near me, so apart from the odd trip to the Brighton Store, I mainly buy online. These are the perfect pair of shorts and I was so happy when I spotted them, as I am quite fussy when it comes to shorts. They fit so nicely which is rare for me when it comes to shorts, and being an elasticated waist, that is even better. I prefer that type of waistband when I can find clothes with them, because they fit better but also agree with my back more, tighter trousers tend to give me pain. They actually come with a belt but due to difficulty doing it up, I took it off. Then after wearing them a few times, I found I generally like them better without it. I would not wear them when it is really hot however, as they're a little on the thicker side. They are for sure one of them pieces you could get away with wearing in the winter.

I would pair these with a colourful but plain tank or again, a fav of mine, a plain blouse. I own a white one with these beautiful buttons which I love with the shorts.

Price: roughly 15-20 pounds.

Jackets

I am only going to be discussing one jacket because of the time of year and my strange body temperature is, I rarely wear one. Unless it is something on the thinner side because I just get so hot, especially when I am on the move. This cute little number, matches the bill perfectly. Do ignore how I show it in the picture, I just snapped it with what I was wearing lol.

Spotty Blouse: how I style it:

This is supposed to be worn as a top but I am generally not that adventurous, so unless the occasion calls for it, I have been wearing it as a cardigan of sorts. Out of all the items, this is the newest piece but I actually never really reached for it until after decluttering, I found it again and wanted another go at styling it. I love the pattern and it is just the right length, so goes so well with most things. Due to the size of it, I wear it with tops that are more on the thin side , along with ones that are plain. Pairing the jacket then adds a little spice and just gives the overall outfit something extra. I find it completes a look and is the perfect thing to just chuck in your bag so you know you can grab it out if needed. I will tuck the bottom into my top as this creates a unique style and to someone looking at your outfit, it can look like a gorgeous two piece.

Price: roughly 10-15 pounds.

You may be wondering, all these clothes seem a little formal for someone who is not really going out still... and you are correct. I only really head out to places I need to go, whether that be shopping or nipping into my local city. Apart from that, I try and stay at home as much as possible because I still quite worried about the virus. However, this does not mean that I cannot enjoy my clothes. I try and wear them whenever I go out, even if that is just for a walk. I want to feel like I'm dressing up, not only to feel better about how things are currently, but also just to feel like I am actually doing something. I also do not want my clothes to just sit there, styling outfits and wearing them to maybe not the fanciest of occasions, still gives me joy as I really enjoy fashion. But, I still want to include the clothes I wear that have been staples for chilling in... so that leads me to:

Comfy Wear

I am very specific when choosing comfy trousers to wear when pottering around the house, they have to resemble nothing close to any jeans or smart trousers, just full on relaxation vibes! That is why I am not including any tops etc, because recently it has been mainly these bottoms that have been my go to for at home. This sounds like I go naked on the top half... I can tell you that is not the case, I just wear what I always have, compared to these bottoms that are recent finds.

Obviously, there is no particular styling when wearing either of these. I will just usually bung on any top, as long as I look semi presentable incase anyone sees me, I am all good.

Comfy Shorts

The beautiful shorts of softness, are the perfect fit, they are not too tight but also not too loose, as I hate shorts that just hang there. I got them from Tescos and when I spotted them, I knew I just had to purchase. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. I was searching for some more like these ones, so it was the perfect match; I really do take these things seriously lol, especially when it comes to comfort. They are so soft that they may be pjs... lol! It just shows how nice they are that I could not tell the difference.

Patterned Trousers

The trousers were the ones I purchased at a vintage fair, which I discussed in a previous fashion post: Vintage Fair Trip. To give you an update, they may have developed a hole in the pocket, but they are so handy to just chuck on. They again are the perfect fit, something which I was unsure about because they did not have a size labelled, so I just took a chance. I am so glad I did, because they are a nice addition to my comfy wear and a bonus is, I can if I wanted to, still wear them out without looking like I am in my pjs. They do pair nicely with a crop tee. You can get some many different styles and colours, and along with the fact they are on the cheaper side, what more could you ask for? They have def been my go to, at home summer trouser.

We now come to an end! I really hope you enjoyed seeing my recent clothing favs and you got some inspo for your wardrobe and future looks.

Stay safe and well, Lucy xoxoxo
